You Missed A Slammer…. Don’t worry YS 7/21

July 9th, 2007

So…. We had just about as much fun as you can legally have playing the show Saturday Night at Bimini Bills. Those of you in attendance can relate. The schedule was behind all night, and we didn’t take the stage until later than expected. But, it didn’t matter… Anyway, to all of you who came out and threw down, we say “Thank You”… And, if you missed us Saturday, fear not… We’ll be back in action Saturday July 21st at Peaches in Yellow Springs, OH. This one will be another one for the books. I can feel it in my bones. Also, to all of you holding it down in West “by God” Virginia… We’re headed your way on Friday July 20th. Come on out Huntington and kick it Silky style as we rip it with our friends in Zero King. Take care, SA

The Local Scene…. The Brand New Skies

July 7th, 2007

Thanks to all of you that made it out to The Manhattan Lounge last night to see us play. It was a weird night, but all in all it turned out great. We saw some of you that we hadn’t seen in a long time. That was cool. Anyway, today Saturday July 7th is a new day, and a new chance for us to invade new ears, eyes, and hearts. We hope you all can make it out tonight to Bimini Bill’s for what is always a grand time. We’ll be sharing the stage with some of Dayton’s best bands; Fluwid, Seconds Fall, and Reaper. Shows like this are few and far between, so put down your iphone, your x-box controller, close out this web page, and remember you can check your myspace tomorrow. You’ve already found what you needed to find online. Grab a shower, designate a driver, and let’s do this up right tonight. I can’t wait to see you all there. Peace!

The Calm before thy Storm

July 3rd, 2007

It’s been a while, so we figured we’d give you a little update! Things are going very well, but a lot of things are out of our control at the moment. The album is ready, the tracks have been remixed, the album cover has been designed, but we’re still awaiting distribution to geen light a release date. We hope to nail a date down asap. We’re very proud of the record, and are anxious to see what everyone thinks of it. In the meantime, we’re practicing hard. We’ve already written about half of the next record, and have been tightening up our live show. Though we won’t be hitting the road hard until the album comes out, we do have a few shows of interest that will be off the chain. Friday, the 6th we’ll be co-headling with 2 High Zeros at the first annual Dub Fest at the Manhattan Lounge in Wilmington, OH (99. S. South St. Wilmington, OH 45177) Then the very next day on July 7th we’ll be rocking out with Reaper at our favorite Dayton rock spot Bimini Bill’s (S. Ludlow St. Dayton, OH) Last but not least, after a trip to Huntington, WV to rock with our friends Zero King, we’ll be blowing the roof off at Peaches in Yellow Springs on July 21st with good friends Dr. Meat (Xenia Ave. Yellow Springs, OH) I thinks that’s about all the updates we have at the moment. Keep your eyes right here and at our www.myspace.com/silkabrasion page for frequent updates, and details on our release date. We hope to have everything set in stone very soon. Anyway, thanks for reading, and until next time. Peace Out, Silk Abrasion

We’ve Been Signed

March 23rd, 2007

Hello Silk Abrasion friends! Well, after nearly 2 years of blood, sweat, and tears. Silk Abrasion has just signed a record deal, and are very excited to be a part of the Hipgnosis Records family. For all the hard work the guys have put into Silk Abrasion over the last 2 years, the real work is just beginning. The tentative date for the release of the band’s debut album entitled “The broken heart…The brand new skies” is May 28th 2007. Also, the guys will be on the road all summer long, so no matter where you live, keep your eyes open for Silk Abrasion shows in your area. If you happen to be in the local area (Dayton), please come out to Silk Abrasion’s first show as a signed band and help them celebrate!! This show will be at Bimini Bill’s in Dayton, OH this Saturday, St. Patrick’s Day March 17th at 10 PM (for show details check out the show schedule). Also appearing at this show will be the band’s good friends Headchange from Columbus, OH. And, speaking of Columbus. The boys will be at the Basement in Columbus, OH on March 24th (still celebrating I’m sure) Anyway, that’s all for now. Keep checking back, as new things are happening every day.

Gearing Up For 2007

January 15th, 2007

Well its been about 5 months since I’ve updated this website and I appologize to all the fans who constantly have checked in on news, shows, and what exactly is going on with Silk Abraison, only to find the same thing every time they check…..not much, haha. My appologies to everyone.

We actually did take time off from shows in November and December for a few reasons. One reason is to recharge. We played almost 60 shows from January to November in ‘06, which was awesome. It really made our first ’solid’ year of playing a definite good one. The down side to that was, we spent most of our practice time rehersing songs for shows, and nit-picking every detail for when we recorded our album, not leaving us much time to write new songs. So we decided to take a step back, stop playing shows for a couple months, and get back to our roots, and that is writing some badass metal. We’ve got about 4 or 5 songs in the works now, which are badass, and we cannot wait to unleash them at our upcomming shows.

Another reason was to get everything situated with our full length debut album which will be called “Because we’re defiant”. We got screwed over with the fundage for the album (a certain fuckwad *coughcoughrandy* offered to pay for our studio time, then backed out and ran when it was time to pay), and had to borrow the money from a very good friend. So now we’re talking to labels about getting our album pressed, and we’ll have more details on that as they evolve.

So overall, we spent a couple months recharging, and now we’re ready to kick off ‘07 and get this year bangin. Be sure to keep your eye’s and ear’s pealed, because once the ball starts rolling again, its gonna be hard to stop again!
